Ne-Yo Sentenced


Singer-songwriter Ne-Yo plead guilty to driving without a license and no contest to a reckless driving charge in an Atlanta court on Monday. The Grammy award-winning singer, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, was sentenced to 24 hours of community service, ordered to perform a free concert for teens, fined $1,000 and required to take a defensive driving course. "They're trying to make me put on that little orange vest and pick up trash. . . . I'm hoping I can take a class or something. I hope we can work it out soon," Ne-Yo said in a recent interview when discussing his arrest and reckless driving charge. Ne-Yo was arrested on February 19 for driving 105 mph in a 55 mph zone. He received a ticket for not having a Georgia license and was later charged with reckless driving.The singer is gearing up to release his third album, 'Year of the Gentleman,' in August.
