Kanye West Is the Latest Artist Accused of Faking It on Stage

Kanye West added himself to the roster of music's most infamous on-stage mishaps Saturday when he failed to nail his performance of "Love Lockdown" on "Saturday Night Live."
To be fair, West's greatest strengths lie in rapping and producing.
"Love Lockdown" and the album from which it hails, "808's and Heartbreak," is West's first foray into singing. But whether by fault of his own or because of his audio equipment, his attempt to serenade "SNL's" audience came off as feeble at best, fueling rumors that he requires a little help in the vocals department.
Ashlee Simpson, Britney Spears, Madonna and Milli Vanilli -- to greater and lesser degrees, they've all been accused of the same thing.

Brandy being Sued

Another lawsuit to leave her brokenhearted.
A man hurt in a 2006 multicar pileup, which involved Brandy and left one person dead, is suing both the songbird and the deceased driver for personal injury and negligence.
Per the complaint, filed Dec. 8 in Los Angeles Superior Court and a copy of which was obtained by E! News, plaintiff Donald Lite alleges he sustained "serious and permanent injuries" as a result of excessive speed on the part of Brandy and Awatef Aboudihaj and their failure to properly maintain a safe distance from each other.
The fatal chain reaction occurred Dec. 30, 2006, at about 10:30 a.m. on the 405 Freeway, when the 28-year-old R&B singer's 2007 Land Rover collided with a vehicle driven by the 38-year-old Aboudihaj, a wife and mother of two. She in turn smashed into a 1989 Toyota Tercel driven by the 82-year-old Lite, while a fourth car broadsided Aboudihaj, who died the following day as the result of major blunt force trauma.
Last year, Los Angeles prosecutors opted not to bring a criminal case against Brandy, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, after finding insufficient evidence that she was at fault.
But that's not stopping Lite from pressing the matter in civil court.
According to the suit, the former Moesha star "failed to keep a proper lookout" and stay far enough away from Aboudihaj to enable her to stop in time to avoid a collision.
"As a direct and proximate result of the negligence, carelessness and recklessness—the plaintiff suffered serious and permanent injuries all of which have caused, and continue to cause pain, suffering and nervousness," read court documents.
Lite's seeking unspecified damages for pain and suffering as well as the cost of medical care and loss of wages, among other claims.
No word yet on a trial date.
A rep for Brandy was unavailable for comment. The erstwhile America's Got Talent judge is already facing three wrongful death lawsuits filed by the relatives of Aboudihaj.

Beyonce thinks being diva not necessary to be role model for girls

American R&B singer Beyonce Knowles apparently believes that being a diva is not necessary to be a role model for girls and young women, for she has her own definition of female beauty.
The 27-year-old superstar says that she feels neither healthy nor sexy when she’s thin.
According to her, the term “bootylicious” is suitable for a woman who is curvy, voluptuous, and possesses a well-shaped and prominent derriere.
“I’m just a pop princess using my butt to save yours,” the ‘Daily Express’ quoted her as saying.
Beyonce, who is married rapper and multi-millionaire music entrepreneur Jay-Z, also understands the difference between a great wedding and a good marriage.
She married Jay-Z, her boyfriend for five years, in a discreet ceremony last spring, which was attended only by their families and closest friends.
“I didn’t want a dramatic wedding. People can sometimes put too much emphasis on the big day but it’s so temporary; it’s gone in a second,” she said.

Braxton underwent secret surgery to have a mysterious lump removed from her breast.
She reportedly discovered the lump right before Dancing With the Stars went on air, but she decided to keep the news to herself until she got more tests done.

Hudson's Estranged Brother-in-Law Denied Bail; Prosecution Offers Motive

A Chicago judge today denied bail to William Balfour, Jennifer Hudson's estranged brother-in-law, whom cops arrested and charged this week with the tragic triple murders of the Oscar winner's family.
And while many theories have been floated since the Oct. 24 shootings, a Cook County prosecutor also offered the first official motive for the alleged crimes: Balfour, the prosecution claims, committed the acts out of anger after learning that his estranged wife—Hudson's sister, Julia—was dating another man.
Yesterday, the 27-year-old was formally charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion and was denied bail today despite his attorney's protests that the case against him was largely circumstantial.
Defense attorney Joshua Kutnick argued to Judge Raymond Myles during this afternoon's hearing that there was neither solid evidence nor eyewitnesses connecting Balfour to the murders of 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, 29-year-old Jason Hudson and 7-year-old Julian King.
The prosecution, for its part, more or less outlined its forthcoming case during the hearing, including disclosing for the first time that gunshot residue was found on the steering wheel of Balfour's car.
Prosecutors also noted that Balfour had contradicted himself numerous times during his grilling by Chicago police, noting that while Balfour initially told investigators he was home at the time of the shootings, his cell phone records indicated that he was actually near the Hudson residence. The city's surveillance cameras also failed to show him at a train station where he had claimed to be earlier in the day.
According to the prosecution, the gun used in the shootings belonged to Hudson's late brother, Jason, but was stolen from his bedroom over the summer. Balfour's girlfriend—while he apparently took umbrage with his estranged wife reconnecting, he seemed to have no problem doing so himself—told police shortly after the shootings that she had seen Balfour with a similar weapon.
It was also asserted during the hearing that in early October, just weeks before the shootings, Balfour had threatened his estranged wife's family with physical harm should she continue to see the other man.
The prosecution also claimed that Balfour, who was spotted with Julia at the Hudson home the morning of the shootings, had gone to the residence that day to issue yet another warning. The duo was seen leaving the Southside home together but in separate cars. Balfour was believed to have returned to the home on his own later in the day.
Kutnick, for his part, continued to maintain his client's innocence. The Hudson family has yet to comment on the proceedings.

Chris Brown & Rihanna Sued

Rihanna and Chris Brown are facing legal action from a photographer who is asking for compensation after he was allegedly beaten and robbed for taking a picture of the rumoured couple.
Luis Santana filed a $1 million lawsuit in Florida on Tuesday claiming bodyguards working for the singers knocked him to the ground and stole his $3,000 camera outside the nightclub where Brown celebrated his 19th birthday in May. Santana claims to have been working outside the Vintage Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg on 6 May when he snapped a picture of the pair through their limousine window. He says the stars’ employees then assaulted him and took his equipment. Santana’s attorney, Paul Kimsey, claims the photograph which was lost, which allegedly contained proof that Rihanna and Brown are in fact a couple, would have sold for a fortune. The 26-year-old is demanding compensation for the shot and the stolen camera, as well as his own personal injuries and distress, according to The St. Petersburg Times.

Marriage for Beyoncé and Jay-Z can be a "power struggle," according to the singer – especially when both superstars have their own careers and millions of dollars.
"If I didn't respect someone and they didn't have that strength, then I would be bored," the 27-year-old tells Elle in its December issue. "I wouldn't be attracted to them."
The couple, who secretly wed in April, topped Forbes' list of richest couples this year with an estimated worth of $162 million.

Leona Lewis has been spotted hugging 'Transformers' actor Tyrese Gibson.

The superstar sisters will team up to launch the festive activities at the Rockefeller Center. Beyonce to perform at Essence Fest in New Orleans

Beyonce is the first artist lined up for next year's Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.
Organizers of the festival announced Tuesday the singer has confirmed her participation.
The July event will mark the 15th anniversary of the celebration of black music and culture. The festival will include more than 12 musical acts a day.
The festival had one of its biggest turnouts this year with more than 270,000 attendees. Performers at the last event included Mary J. Blige and LL Cool J.

Mariah Carey Calls Off Wedding Celebration

Mariah Carey has reported called off her lavish wedding celebration because she couldn't secure a photo deal that would cover the party's costs. It had previously been reported that Carey and husband Nick Cannon would host an over-the-top party in New York City to compensate for their low-key nuptials in the Bahamas. "Mariah was willing to pay for the wedding, but the way she hoped to pay for the wedding was through the sale of photos," a source told MSNBC's The Scoop. "No one was interested."
Even though no party is planned, EOnline.com reported last week that Carey's assistant allegedly sent out "more than 100 e-mails to her wealthy friends letting them know she's registered at Bergdorf Goodman if they want to buy her a present."
Among the items the singer registered for are fine china and silver items.

What inspires your style?
My style is a little bit of everything. The past influences me by being retro and rocking things such as dookie rope chains, 4 finger rings, door knockers, acid washed/colored skinny jeans, wind breakers and so on. The present influences me by always looking at whats the trend and going the complete opposite way and making a 360, because I don't like to fit in. This is how every youth wants to dress. I always try to think ahead and start trends and then when people catch on I switch it up again! I get tons of my fashion style from characters I love. I would rock a captain hat, Star Trek inspired glasses, Barbie with the bright pink lipstick; I'm just a whole world of fashion stuffed into one little body!
Why do you have a certain affinity for 1980s hip hop style?
I'm not completely 80s. I just love a couple items and trends from that era. I don't want to be put in a category of being 80s. The 80s in my opinion was the most free-styled and most fashionable. I like the pin curls from the 60s and maybe the whole Moulin Rouge thing from the 20s I just take a bit of everything and do my thing. I don't like the 70s I'm not walking around rocking a Afro or string around my forehead!! The hippie thing is not really my thing!
It's unique because I dare what a lot of people fear. I don't care if people stare or don't get it. I'm shameless and I'm in my own world I don't dress to please people.I dress to please myself.
Who are your style icons?
I don't have a style icon really. I respect the fashion style of people such as Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Micheal Jackson, M.I.A., Kanye West, and Barbie. . . .yes the doll!!!
What is your favorite beauty item?
Pink lipstick!

Today I have on a pair of neon green skinny jeans, a gold metallic belt, gold Sequence Fanny Pack, white pink lime Green Nike vandals, blue red purple and grey windbreaker jacket with hoodie, wife beater, 3 rope chains - different sizes, doorknockers earings, 4 finger ring, Japanese pimp watch, tons of bracelets, baby doll pink lipstick, gold glitter on my eyes and my UV sunglasses!!! Dope TOK'N!

R&B singer Ashanti, who has been mummed about her rumored relations with rapper Nelly, finally drops a few lines publicly about their companionship.
"Me and Nelly, we're good friends. We kick it – hang out a lot," the 27-year-old told People at Game Five of the 2008 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. "The industry is very hard, so it's good to have fun and lighten it up."

Ciara will showcase her sensual side on the first disc, which is called 'Groove City,' and a second disc, dubbed 'Crunktown,' will feature tracks similar to her debut single 'Goodies.' R&B diva Beyonce may have to go toe-to-toe with English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse for the opportunity to sing the theme song for the 22nd James Bond flick, 'Quantum of Solace,' due in theaters October 31. "I've done loads of Bond songs. There are loads of good ones I'm really happy with. I don't know what is wrong with them or what the problem is, to be honest. It's there, ready and done, and it's up to them if they want it or not, Winehouse told a newspaper earlier this week. On the other hand, producer Mark Ronson claims the embattled singer was unable to finish recording the track. "We did work on it, but we never finished it," Ronson said. Ne-Yo Sentenced

Singer-songwriter Ne-Yo plead guilty to driving without a license and no contest to a reckless driving charge in an Atlanta court on Monday. The Grammy award-winning singer, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, was sentenced to 24 hours of community service, ordered to perform a free concert for teens, fined $1,000 and required to take a defensive driving course. "They're trying to make me put on that little orange vest and pick up trash. . . . I'm hoping I can take a class or something. I hope we can work it out soon," Ne-Yo said in a recent interview when discussing his arrest and reckless driving charge. Ne-Yo was arrested on February 19 for driving 105 mph in a 55 mph zone. He received a ticket for not having a Georgia license and was later charged with reckless driving.The singer is gearing up to release his third album, 'Year of the Gentleman,' in August.

Ashanti Causes Outrage Over Violent Album Campaign

Ashanti has sparked an outcry over the promotional campaign of her new album, prompting lobby groups and family values campainers to protest out the front of her record company's office in Los Angeles.
The new video for the singer's 'The Way That I Love You', which can be viewed below, shows images of blood splattered walls and a knife dripping with blood, and gives the impression that Ashanti killed her lover by stabbing him to death.
On her website, readers can sign a friend up to 'punk their ass', which will send said friend an email stating, 'Your life may be in danger', with links to a fake news website and a video that claims, "Police are investigating a string of violent attacks and searching for the possible next victim."
Despite a disclaimer at the end of the video saying, "Ashanti and Universal Music Group do not encourage or condone violence of any kind. This is for parody purposes only", protests were staged outside of the record label's office on Tuesday (June 10) by more than two dozen parents and religious leaders, who are concerned about the message the video was sending.

Happy days are here again for the beleaguered music industry...at least for a week. It turns out that everyone who was wondering whether Mariah, Madonna, or Usher would have the biggest blockbuster sales opening of the year had their eyes on the wrong contenders: It's rapper Lil Wayne, who's set to have the most massive first week of any new album this spring, by far. And, contrary to industry wisdom, it seems the album was helped by premature leaks.
How huge will it be? Tha Carter III just came out Tuesday morning, so it's difficult to tell from less than a day's worth of sales, but an exec at Lil Wayne's label estimates the disc will sell between 850,000 and 950,000 by the end of its first week. If their numbers are correct, that would be about double the opening figure for 2008's current record-holder, Mariah Carey's E=MC2, which opened with 443,000 copies. "The accounts were bullish by 10 in the morning," reports Pat Monaco, exec VP of sales for the Universal Motown Republic Group. "The sales the first few hours were exceeding the rate that the Kanye album sold a year ago." (That one ended up selling 957,000 the first week; nothing has come close since.) "Wayne was one of these records that, because it was so highly anticipated, with the leaks and everything, it caused more people to go out at 8 in the morning to buy the CD."
